Double track extension with lake view.
The 15km long railway line from Zug to Arth-Goldau was rehabilitated in four sub-projects. The existing double track in front of Walchwil station was extended by 1.7km. The work comprised a total of 128 objects. In addition, dismantling of the railway infrastructure and creation of eleven access roads to the track with six installation sites were necessary.
The four sub-projects were carried out on two construction sites. Construction site A ran over a length of 8.65km from Zug railway station to the Sagenbachbrücke. Construction site B extended over a distance of 6.35km from the Sagenbachbrücke to Arth railway station.
The four sub-projects were:
1. double-track extension Walchwil
2. substance preservation single-track tunnel
3. substance preservation of buildings and roadway Zug - Arth-Goldau
4. protective structures (Baltisberg and Härzigwald)
After one and a half years of construction, the project was completed to the fullest satisfaction of the client SBB AG.

In Walchwil, a second lane was built over 1.7km for rail traffic.

After the rock was removed, a new timber-framed building with anchoring was constructed.

After dismantling the old steel bridge, a reinforced concrete bridge including foundations, a new stream wall with a facing layer of natural stone and the necessary new works pipes were built.
