Papieri Site: Living and working space in old factory buildings

By 2015, four paper machines were still in operation in the factory halls of the Papieri site. PORR SUISSE is now building 52 lofts and 7 studios in the halls, which have been classified as historical monuments.

The aim is to transform the historic structure of the ensemble into a modern building that meets the highest demands for living and working space. The existing buildings will first be restored to their primary structure of reinforced concrete with infill masonry and then supplemented with new elements such as cores, stairs, walls and ceilings.

Modern materials such as concrete, wood, glass blocks and steel complete the interior design of the new rooms. The design of the facades and especially the windows is based on historical examples.
