"PORR is proud to be involved in the realisation of visionary forms of building use. We are pleased to have adapted the existing building for sustainable use in cooperation with all parties involved," says Hubert Seifert, CEO of PORR SUISSE AG.
The conversion of the seven-storey building on Nauenstrasse created a modern residential complex with 127 flats. According to the sentiments of the residents, the flats are furnished in five different “moods”. The building also offers a restaurant, a lobby bar and public work areas. A fitness centre and a pool with bar on the roof round off the facilities. The three basement floors include a large parking garage.
Technical key data
As visionary as the use will be, as demanding was the building project. All aspects of the existing building from the 1960s had to be adapted to the future use. Thus, the reinforced concrete structure was adapted to today's static requirements and earthquake safety by deconstruction and additions. All technical equipment was removed and replaced by new, contemporary technology. Today, all rooms are connected to a ventilation system to ensure the quality of the indoor air. In conjunction with the heat transfer station, which is fed by the district heating network, the facade was upgraded in terms of energy efficiency. This was achieved by using window elements with low energy transmittance and thermal insulation of large facade areas.
